About
Greetings! I am a licensed associate clinical social worker providing individual therapy for adults and adolescents ages 13 and older. I work to help people create space for themselves and believe that if we open ourselves to learning that we can cultivate within our minds the capacity for joy and the strength to engage with our issues. I bring calm, focus, and compassion to each interaction. I believe in the power of the individual to make positive changes in their own lives and develop the skills to endure any hardship. I believe that the mind is deeply connected to the body and that that connection is essential for fostering peace and health within ourselves.
I began my career working as a ESL teacher and development worker in India in 2010. Since then I have taught English as a foreign language in countries around the world and I served as a member of the Peace Corps in 2017. In 2020 COVID made me reassess my priorities and I decided to leave the field of education to get my degree in Social Work. As part of my education, I worked with International Rescue Committee helping immigrants apply for jobs and I worked in crisis response as part of the Bellevue CARES team. I graduated with a master’s in social work from the University of Washington in June 2023. I now work as a behavioral health provider through in-person and telehealth.
My bachelor’s degree was in anthropology, and it was there that I first began to study how human beings assign meaning to their lives. This field and social work draw on multiple different systems to comprehend that process and how our larger society can both reinforce and undermine our understanding of the world around us. On an individual level I draw on several modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp), Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational interviewing (MI), and my life experience interacting with a wide variety of cultures and people groups to meet you where you are. I specialize in working with people with cluster b personality disorders, people experiencing psychotic symptoms, anxiety, grief and loss, chronic health conditions, and people struggling with suicidality and depression. I believe that our therapeutic relationship should be measured by the connection and support you feel from us working together.
In my free time I enjoy playing tabletop roleplaying games with friends, reading whatever books I can get my hands on, and swimming in Lake Washington.
